These pine chairs will be painted like all my others, and the 2×10 used for the legs makes them solid as a rock and very sturdy due to the slayed leg style. I used the shape of the bottom back slat support, in the back legs braces as well as a filler strip attached with pocket screws to hide the bolts below the seat. The side leg braces act as the footrest supports which are attached by pocket screws as well.

The front of the seat sits 15.5″ tall, which is a decent height considering its an adirondack. Most tall people should be able to get down to this height and slide thei backsides into the seat.

Simple repair: Drill a 3/8 inch hole at about the same distance to either side of the split and use a nylon wire tie (zip tie) to hold the split together. If the split is long, you might want to use a few parallel wire ties. The wire ties will last a season or two before they break, and will need replacement.

If you like the Adirondack style, then I want to mention and encourage you to visit ADK Home in Old Forge, New York. They have a Facebook page but they don't display much in inventory there. Visit before and after snowfall. Friday nights is an "art walk" event that the local galleries sponsor. Their website is facebook.com/WildernessI…

If you’re at least an intermediate woodworker, making an Adirondack chair isn’t rocket science. It’s like building any other piece of furniture and maintaining a distinct framework.
After scouring through hundreds of adirondack chairs, the models listed below scored the best in terms of seat height, depth, and overall height. Unless you can physically try the chairs out in a store, I’ve found these options to be the best for the taller person.

This bar height is a nice addition to any patio or home, as it features an unique design, while being very easy to build. I would love to see it, so don’t forget to share a few images!

Note: Please don't forget to buy pillows and cup holders when you are here to pick up your furniture since we don't ship them.
All in all, its a very nice looking outdoors Adirondack chair. The fact it is made from very strong hardwood and comes in a variety of colors, including natural, it’s hard to not give this chair a chance. 300 Lbs Weight Capacity Adirondack Chair High Weight Capacity Chair By Lifetime This Adirondack chair is also made in the USA. Made from Polystyrene materials this chair can hold 300 pounds. While in my opinion the finish of the chair itself is not as wood like as the Highwood chair. But it’s still one heavy duty Adirondack chair not to be messed with.

Do you have any idea as to whether they would hold two for you if you called and they had them?

Biggest issue? If you are unable to use the stairs to enter and exit the store, then you are going to have to either pass up the chance to visit the showroom or see if they will allow you to enter via another means. The loading dock is not wheelchair accessible. This is a huge problem for persons with ambulatory concerns.
In 1938, Irving Wolpin of New Jersey acquired a patent for another design change. Described as a "lawn-chair," Wolpin's chair had the slanted seat and wide armrests of the Westport chair, was constructed out of smaller slats, but also featured a rounded back and contoured seat. Wolpin's design is the most commonly replicated Adirondack chair today.

As the story goes, during one summer in Westport, Lee felt a desire to create a chair that could handle the rugged terrain of the Adirondacks. This chair would have to be sturdy, balanced, and comfortable on everything from sandy ground to a small hill.

But Lee and Bunnell’s slant-back chair endured. Permutations of the original design continued to appear, some from the workshops of weekend hobbyists, and others from the loftier circles of furniture designers like Gerrit Rietveld, whose 1918 “Red and Blue Chair” and boxy 1934 “Crate Chair” exhibit similar DNA. In 1938, Irving Wolpin of New Jersey patented a chair in the Westport form with a fan-shaped back and slats where Lee and Bunnell had used planks. It’s essentially the version we recognize today, and it appears throughout the Adirondacks, and even in Westport, where Lee’s design still holds court on some porches.

If you’re on the heavier side of life, then getting out of these types of chairs can be difficult and your best bet would be to find one that’s a bit higher off the ground.

How many cans of pant per chair or how many chairs does one can of paint cover? Thank you BTW, do you remember where you got those particular plastic resin Adirondack chairs? I’m asking because the new batch of A-chairs out there have been redesigned and I do not like the so-called lumbar support bump that they have now. Also, I have looked all over for the former design of the matching footstools. The “old” footstools were flat, not sloped like the “new & improved” design. Another case of a redesign that doesn’t meet many customers wants and needs. Thanks!
