As the story goes, during one summer in Westport, Lee felt a desire to create a chair that could handle the rugged terrain of the Adirondacks. This chair would have to be sturdy, balanced, and comfortable on everything from sandy ground to a small hill.
Usually left outside, these chairs are subject to the elements, and with that comes rain, sun, heat, wind and any other crazy form of weather your geographic location can throw at them. In terms of heat, this is one of the biggest problems when it comes to plastic adirondack chairs. .

Mine was doing chalky powder too I found out that it was too hot out and the mist when I was spraying was drying before touching the plastic. So I used a micro fiber cloth wipe off the plastic table I was doing and put another coat once it started to get dark out no chalky powder. I should have known. I’m doing the chairs tomorrow and was looking up how people have done chairs.

Lots of small everyday household products, such as milk jugs, are made with HDPE. When you put those HDPE products in your recycling container, they’re often recycled into bigger everyday household products, such as trashcans, or — you guessed it — outdoor furniture. In the case of HDPE, the recycling process is sometimes referred to as “downcycling” because the original HDPE experiences some changes to its basic property types during the recycling process, and can’t be recycled a second time (when it’s in its outdoor furniture form).

While the moose is the most iconic animal in the Adirondacks, the Adirondack chair is the region's most recognizable object. Although there are all kinds of variations today, ranging from colorful plastic chairs to two-person benches, the original design for the Adirondack chair was created back in the early 1900s and lives on in today's popular Adirondack chair designs.

We just gave away a patio set made of iron and all-weather (plastic) wicker. I would have preferred to repaint the iron and get new cushions made but my husband wanted a different look. Luckily a young and crafty couple were looking for a good project and took the whole whole set off our hands. I asked them to post pictures when they finish redoing them. Since living in my neighborhood we found that almost anything we no longer want or need can be reused by someone in a creative way. Had not idea that plastic could be successfully spray painted. While it has a nice looking wood design it’s actually made from a durable plastic that is stronger than you’d think. There’s a number of advantages to having the plastic option with one that most people don’t think about, which is splinters. This is a small thing but not having to worry about getting a splinter when sitting is a big plus.

Bring the style and comfort of Adirondack chairs to your porch, and consider giving these classic wooden chairs a fresh look with a coat of black or white paint.

Few things feel better than whiling away the day on a shady porch, nestled in the deep recline of an Adirondack chair. Its hallmark sloped backrest, canted seat and paddle-like armrests make it easily recognizable far outside its namesake region. Occasionally retitled and regularly reinvented in polyethylene and plastic, the chair has become a fixture on lakeshores in Michigan, beach cottages on Cape Cod and grassy front lawns across the nation.

There’s a bit more flex in this chair which does make it very comfortable. This does come with a drawback for the heavier folks out there and if you’re over 250lbs then I would consider the chair that’s made for big and heavy people.
