The armrests are long and wide but become narrower as it moves farther. The seat is no less comfortable and great for relaxing, entertaining and even sleeping. This seat is obviously stained to protect it from the rain and the scorching sun.
Simple repair: Drill a 3/8 inch hole at about the same distance to either side of the split and use a nylon wire tie (zip tie) to hold the split together. If the split is long, you might want to use a few parallel wire ties. The wire ties will last a season or two before they break, and will need replacement.

Thanks for the info, Corey. I didn’t use primer either and I feel like I used quite a bit of paint. I tried to use a sweeping motion while spraying and I was worried about using too much, but since you mentioned using a thick coat, I guess I didn’t use too much (even though I used more than one can).
This makes the chair more useful when you want to move around outdoors environment. Because you can easily fold them and tuck them away to store in your car boot and transport.
Anyway, provided that you sort the height issues of the seat, you will be good to go. You also need to put in mind the weight capacity of the chair and its seat width.

What makes this such a comfortable chair is how it’s wider and taller than your average chair. It’s roughly 4 inches wider than the standard models and has a 6 inch higher back as well. It has some impressive measurements with it being 33 inches wide by 40 inches high, and an overall depth of 36-inches.
This part is time-consuming and messy considering how many pieces there really are for making Adirondack chairs. I ended up covered in sawdust, or as my 5-year-old calls is “wood fuzz”.
The size of this chair is great compared to a lot of others due to it’s higher back and decent size seat width. It has an impressive height of 39.25 which will help the taller people out there with some extra back support. The width of the seat is decent but might be a bit narrow for some with it measuring 20.75 inches.

At first, patients sat outside on collapsible steamer chairs or rockers or pulled two stationary chairs together to get comfortable. “They look kind of cold and miserable,” Catania says, referencing photographs of patients bundled in blankets, their feet resting on wooden armchairs. Around the turn of the century came an improvement: The “cure chair,” a chaise lounge-like recliner modeled on those used in European sanatoriums. With wide armrests, an adjustable back and springs that supported a tufted cushion, “It really gave people a much more comfortable way to lie outside,” Catania says. Production of the chairs ensued, with several area residents receiving patents on their designs. Most adopted the lounger profile, but at least one was designed as a reclining chair. The design is basic with your utmost comfort in mind. The backrests are huge and the seats are spacious; you can even fit two people in the biggest seat! The smallest seat is cute and will surely be the darling of the patio.
Remember to also look into the acceptance of paint and other finishes. Some types of wood don’t receive paint/glue/polish as easily.
