This chair is made from redwood which is one of the most durable and efficient hardwoods commonly used to make patio furniture. The plans to make this chair is quite easy to follow however, you must have all the materials and tools handy.
In his own book, Daniel Mack, the chairmaker, suggests a kinship between the Westport chair and forerunners that include reclining patient chairs of the early 19th century as well as the slant-backed Morris chair that inspired Craftsman furniture maker Gustav Stickley. But he singles out the cure chair as a pivotal development. Were it not for tuberculosis, he writes, “It’s unlikely that there would have been an Adirondack chair.”

Traditional Adirondack chairs are fantastic, but they have one potential problem that keeps some people from enjoying them: They tend to sit low to the ground. If you suffer from any type of mobility issue, that may make them non-starters for you, even if you like the styling.
Often times the most difficult thing about getting a new chair is having to assemble it which is usually made more difficult by poor instructions. This isn’t the case with this chair as the assembly is very minimal and doesn’t take long to set up at all so more time to relax. Polywood is one of the originals when it comes to poly lumbar materials made to look like real timber and one of the best.
Check the seat and armrest widths also. Ensure that the seat is very spacious to accommodate your big frame sufficiently.
The backrest has only four wide planks but still looks durable and efficient. The seats are huge and are moderately sloped at the back. The armrests are huge and could be used as a table and the seat is slightly higher from the ground compared to other traditional Adirondack chair designs.
