I am most certainly not a big enthusiast of art but I cannot help myself but admire these lovely chairs. It is good that you decided to take a picture with one of them, else I might mistake them for a miniature which usually comes in dollhouses, don’t you think? .

Overall I can’t really fault this chair, maybe the assembly could be easier but that’s not a big deal either. It’s oversized and very heavy duty which is what us plus size people need in an Adirondack chair. Also comes in a nice natural selection of colors, Weathered Acorn being our best pick.
Well….the pic was taken there…in front of the railing…to give perspective to the height of the chairs since my deck is covered in 3’ of snow !!!
" The Classic Adirondack chairs are very comfortable, but my friends seem to enjoy the pillows and the cup holders as much as the chairs."
This is a good little site, but it sadly falls short of greatness. It’s got some layout issues that make it somewhat cumbersome to navigate, and we wish the format and layout of individual plans were better. It’s a bit ad-heavy, but if you can look past the site’s shortcomings, there are a lot of great plans here. Pretty much anything you want to build, you can find something you’ll like here.
Cedar: While not as tough as teak, cedar does make a more durable chair than pine. The wood has a natural oil that resists bug infestations and decay. Like pine, a cedar Adirondack chair will need to be refinished every year or two. Cedar naturally adjusts to the moisture found in wet climates, making it an excellent choice for chairs that will be left in the rain.
These were made from treated lumber and painted in different fun shades of color. It is not certain if these chairs were used near the pool, on a patio or in a garden setting but nevertheless, you can use it anywhere and take it anywhere too. These colorful Adirondack chairs should be your next backyard project.

The first one to make an Adirondack chair was an American named Thomas Lee. He made his chair as he was vacationing in Westport, New York in the Adirondack Mountains in 1903. Called “Westport Plank Chair” Lee offered the design to Harry Bunnell who was a carpenter. Bunnell saw the possibility of commercializing the design and got a patent for it in 1905 without asking Lee’s permission. Bunnell manufactured the “Westport chairs” for the next two decades. The chairs were painted green or medium dark brown and each one bore Bunnell’s signature.
While cure chairs were specifically designed for TB sufferers, Catania notes that the frequency with which tuberculosis patients come in and out of remission blurred the line between who was ill and who was not. “There was this idea you had to take care of your health,” she says. “People slept out on their cure porches even if they weren’t sick with TB.” The Yale University Art Gallery obtained a Westport chair for its collection in 2002. Oak: Durable and solid, oak is a popular wood for all types of furniture, and for good reason. It’s heavy, giving Adirondack chairs a solid feel, and it’s beautiful. The price is comparable to that of pine and cedar. However, maintenance is another matter. Direct sunlight can cause streaking or color changes. Oak chairs should be kept in the shade, and they will need a UV-protectant stain.
Opt for wood with very little infrequent maintenance needs once you’ve completed the project. Then you can sit back, enjoy, and not have to worry about retreating, revarnishing, or repainting it over and over.
