For the past few years, we have had a pair of Adirondack chairs in the yard. They are made of teak I believe and have become very wobbly and rickety over time. Last Spring they looked like this:
When you have a big family like I do and enjoy the odd gathering outdoors, suitable seating can be a challenge. Especially if you’re wanting weather resistant outdoors chairs you can leave outdoors for extended periods. Fortunately there is a solution and they come in the form of Heavy Duty Adirondack Chairs For Large People.
This is another great example of the wonders of spray paint! Excellent! (Love the colors too!).
Our website only represents a sampling of the Adirondack collection in our showroom. Be sure to visit us soon, and see them as they were meant be seen. Questions about a specific item, custom designs or shipping outside the NY area?
One thing to love about mahogany is that its growth progresses rapidly, making it sustainable. It is widely distributed, ubiquitous, and versatile.

According to Elizabeth Lee, Thomas’s great- great-grandniece, “Uncle Tom” spent the years between 1900 and 1903 experimenting with different types of wood and various shapes, sizes and positioning before arriving at an angled chair with a comfort level unmatched by any other.
The Deck chair measures 36” to the top of the curve at the front of the seat, the Bar chair is 30” and the Counter chair is 26”, measuring the standard 24” to the bottom curve of the seat. The plans will include all 4 chairs, as the only difference is the height of the legs and minor changes to the footrests if desired, and the wider seat slats of the armless chair.
According to Mack’s book, Bunnell produced his “Westport Plank Chair” in a basement workshop and sold them for $4 out of a retail store on the town’s main street. By 1912, a version called the “Adirondack Bungalow Chair” was being sold through W.C. Leonard’s department store in Saranac Lake, and copycats soon followed. Bunnell continued to manufacture the chair himself until about 1930, producing variations that included an alternate-facing tête-à-tête version and another that converted to a rocking chair. By the time Bunnell died of pneumonia in March 1933, his chair design had found its way beyond northern New York. The newspaper notice announcing his death hailed him as the “manufacturer of the world-wide known Adirondack camp chair.”
Overall I can’t really fault this chair, maybe the assembly could be easier but that’s not a big deal either. It’s oversized and very heavy duty which is what us plus size people need in an Adirondack chair. Also comes in a nice natural selection of colors, Weathered Acorn being our best pick.
Weather resistance essentially means unwavering against constant contact or changes in water, temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure.
Our customers often drive several hours to save money on poly outdoor furniture. Folks often express concern, over the phone, that something must be wrong with the furniture seen on this website since the prices are so much lower than poly outdoor furniture sold elsewhere. It is quite common that after our customers see the furniture in person, they load up as many pieces as they can fit in their vehicles. This customer called from New Jersey to reserve maybe a porch swing and maybe some folding Adirondack chairs if they liked the furniture after seeing it in person. They ended up buying 8 folding Adirondack chairs, 1 porch swing, 6 Adirondack footrests, 4 accent tables and 4 bent poly rocking chairs. I think it's fair to say they liked what they saw when they got here!
This Adirondack chair may be too hard to check out since it is loaded with pillows and accents but this just proves that this type of chair is perfect for outdoor relaxation. This is made from recycled wooden pallets which were weatherproofed and cut into the desired shape. This chair holds true to its traditional design with its long armrests and a swooping seat. Can you imagine relaxing or taking a nap here?
