Continue the project by cutting the front legs for the bar height adirondack stools. As you can easily see in the diagram, you just need to make 5 degree cuts to both ends of the 1×3 slats. Smooth the edges with sandpaper.

Hi! I live in Bay Area, CA. I’m looking for a couple of these chairs and they are sold out online.
Building it is somewhat challenging and requires a little more than beginner woodworking skills. So unless you have mastered the woodworking trade, the last thing you want is wood that is difficult to work with.

With funding from the PLAY 60, Play On initiative, Wilder and his team were able to provide 3 free pop-up play days at local parks to serve all members of the community, including the 1,100 at-risk youth who attend after school programs every day. The giant chairs sitting on the edge of the park attracted a diverse group of people who joined in on the festivities. Overall, 7,800 kids were served. Sorry to hear Jeffrey! Spare parts are cheap. It would be in their best interest to send you a few dollars in parts rather than return hundreds of dollars worth of chairs. Can I ask which part broke? Maybe there are others here that will be able to assist if we know exactly what part you need. Did you try calling & emailing them as well. Sometimes email works better

The design proved popular, and Lee made a number of chairs for family and friends. Then, in 1904, when his hunting pal, Harry C. Bunnell, found himself without a source of winter income, Lee handed over the plans to his chair. And Bunnell, without Lee’s knowledge, received a patent for the design—with a few added features. That’s a good question Brandi. I’m not sure there is a weight capacity on the box. I tried looking. I will say this….the width of the chair is wide, so if you tend to have a wider bottom, this should still be comfortable to sit in. The only issue with that is it sits low to the ground. If someone is a heavier person, they may have difficulty getting in and out of the chair because it is so low. They really are comfortable though! I hope that helps

There are two hallmark features that make an authentic wooden Adirondack chair according to experts; a three foot raked back and wide arms. This is why we build all of our original chairs with thick wide arms, roomy seats, tall 3 foot raked backs and thick sturdy legs. We use Mahogany, Red Western Cedar, and Ipe woods because each is durable as well as strong. To help withstand the elements of Mother Nature we use 316 stainless steel carriage bolts to attach our front legs and arms to the back brace board. We attach the seat and back slats with 316 stainless steel and powder coated wood screws for Ipe wood.
The most popular activity may have been the climbing wall. Many of the families cannot afford to do this activity in a pay-for-play environment, so there were several excited first-timers anxious to give it a try. Kids of all ages and sizes climbed the wall, reaching higher and higher with each step.

On “fitting the legs”, how far apart are the front and back legs at the base? It looks like you’d attach the rear legs first, which sets the angle of the seat, and the front legs after.

I have purchased 4 white chairs with the idea to paint the backs to look like a piano keyboard. I am a musician and if they turn out right, will donate the chairs as a silent auction item for the group I sing with. Have you ever done anything that specialized, and do you have suggestions about how to even begin?

The armrests are so huge you can place a cold drink on top! The seat swoops backward and to the front to lift your feet from the ground. This is made from tough lumber which was treated to withstand tough weather.

Possibly made for a lifeguard, this is a beach Adirondack chair that has extra-ordinary tall legs. What makes this true to the Adirondack designs is its swooping seat but with this design, you can only recline a few bits.
By the 1950s, the introduction of antibiotics and other treatments for tuberculosis made the sanatoriums obsolete and cure chairs unnecessary. “When the TB years ended, a lot of them were sent straight to the dump,” says Catania, who still owns one and uses it for reading—until it lulls her into a doze. “They’re really good napping chairs.” Irving Wolpin's "Lawn Chair or Similar Article," patented April 12, 1938 U.S. Design Patent 109,239
