The backrests have five long and wide planks while the seat is wide and can even accommodate two people. The armrests are awkwardly large and wide but no matter, you can use these as a narrow table, one on each side.

Gorilla Glue doesn't work. We have about 10 of these chairs with tables at our Lake house and they all eventually split, crack, etc. I tried every thing including Gorilla, Crazy, and any other glue, duct tape, etc. I now put a towel over chair to cover cracked part and "Forget about it". My husband saw the chairs for $12. at a local hardware store up at the lake house so when the towels wear out we will just spring for the new chair. Good luck and let me know if you have had any success with your repair efforts,

Luckily a young and crafty couple were looking for a good project and took the whole whole set off our hands. I asked them to post pictures when they finish redoing them. Since living in my neighborhood we found that almost anything we no longer want or need can be reused by someone in a creative way. Had not idea that plastic could be successfully spray painted. Teak: Teak is one of the most durable hardwoods on the market. A special oil found in the heartwood gives it the strength and durability to last a good 60 to 70 years. Even in weather conditions that swing from hot to cold and wet to dry, teak won’t split, rot, or crack. You will need to apply a sealant each year, but that’s it for upkeep. This popular wood comes at a high price, but you can leave it outside for years, and it will still provide a beautiful, relaxing surface on which to sit.
Mahogany: Mahogany rivals teak and oak for strength. It has a rich, dense grain and resists decay. It also has good scratch resistance, but it requires refinishing every year to stay that way.
